Question tags are used:

to agree / to disagree

to show interest/surprise

We use a negative tag after a positive statement and

a positive tag after a negative statement.

That wasn't great, was it? -No, but this time Ronaldinho scored four goals. I love that guy! -Do you? I prefer Eto'o. He's scored more goals this season, hasn't he? -That's true, he has. But Ronaldinho is the best footballer in the world.  All the newspapers say that, don't they?         Student -But Ronaldinho can't run as fast as Eto'o.          -Can't he? -No, and Eto'o is younger, isn't he? -Well, one year isn't much, is it? They're both brilliant!
